TEXAS INDEPENDENCE APRIL 6, 1813. CELEBRATION

Texas tejanos celebrated Texas first independence of april 6, 1813. In front of the spanish Governors Palace located Plaza de Armas and Commerce ave. April 5, 2009. San Antonio, Texas

Jesus Moron showed a display of the Gaceta de Texas to the public this item was the first spanish newspsper in texas history, published may 25, 1813 in Nacogdoches Texas and printed in the Old Stone Fort (actual Historical Museum) built by Gil Ybarbo and owned by Samuel Peter Davenport who was the Paymaster in the Gutierrez Magee Expedition in 1813.
This expedition, culminated to be Texas first independence from Spain. Col. Bernardo Gutierrez de Lara was the Main leader and Cap. Augustus William MaGee was the second in comand.

San Antonio,Texas was the capitol of the First Republic of Texas and the Spanish Governors Palace building became the office of Col. Bernardo Gutierrez de Lara and the Governors Junta presided by Dr. Francisco Arocha in april. 6, 1813.

Dan Arellano a descendant of one of the heroes of this expedition was the main speaker, who told us the way his ancestror took part with Gutierrez de Lara.
Jose Lopez uribe presented a book containing the war movements of don Bernardo.
The members of A.L.M.A Marched escorting the Texas first flag that was carried by our Tejano Heroes. 'The Green Flag of Texas" Escorted by The Republican Army of the North. Under Cap. Miguel Mechaca Delgado and The Provincianos of Tejas, Cavalry. Were Mission indians, Coahiltecas,Coushattas,Wacoes,Coyotes, Papayas and Lipans took pride to figth for the Texas Province.
Rudy "Tejano" Pena was in the event to support the Tejas Independence Declaration.
The bejarenos Genealogists also took part in this event and i want to mention "The Granaderos de Galvez Organization Who Presented The Spanish version of the Spanish Militia and their Bourbon red flag Reenacted the Army leaded by General Jose Joaquin de Arredondo.
The spanish Governors Palace presented this program to promote the unknown part of the Texas History.
Jesus Moron Publisher of the Gaceta de Tejas distribuited free copies of his version Bilingual english-spanish to the public. This Gaceta is the Continuation and replica of the one published in 1813. Jesus Depicts the results of this war for Texas Independence. That is also considered part of the American Revolution of 1812. Were the "Madison Regiment" took part in the Battle of Medina and carried with them the 15 star United States Flag in under the Comand of Col. Henry Perry.
Col. Bernardo Gutierrez de Lara carried the Virgin of Guadalupe Banner as their flag. and col.
Jose Alvarez de Toledo the Green Flag of Texas Republic.1813.
